Alcantara Gorges & Taormina
Cool water, dark volcanic rock, and one of Sicily's strangest landscapes.
Tour overview
A landscape unlike anywhere else on the island.
We start at the Alcantara Gorges, where an ancient lava flow met the river and was carved, over millennia, into narrow basalt canyons. It's one of eastern Sicily's most unusual natural sights.
There's time to walk the park, take in the rock formations and, depending on conditions, get closer to the water.
From there we head to Taormina for Corso Umberto, the Greek theatre, and free time in the historic centre before your return.
