We drive up toward Mount Etna's slopes, into a landscape of old lava flows, black craters and thin mountain air. It looks like nowhere else in Sicily.
Exact stops depend on weather, road access and volcanic activity on the day — Etna sets its own terms, and we work around them.
In the afternoon we descend to Taormina for Corso Umberto, the ancient theatre and free time before heading back.
